That crispy caramelized goodness of Smashburger sliders is all you you have to think about to get your tastebuds going. They’re topping with grilled onions and out of this world!
Oh whats that? you need photos too? Alright fine..
Like regular smashburgers, they are pressed into a piping hot skillet top to get that amazing carmelized crust on the outside of your ground beef.
But in fun sized slider form because.. you know, sliders.
I’m making about 1.5oz balls of burger meat using a food scale to make them the right size for these sliders – they look a little big once you smash them on your griddle, but don’t worry. They’ll shrink up!
Then just double up the patties on these smashburger sliders, top them off with some grilled onions.
It’s got this matured white castle burger vibe that I’m really loving.
The key is a blacktop or skillet that is as hot as you can get it. I like throwing a cast iron griddle on my grill and just letting it preheat in the grill for about 15 minutes until the grill gets as hot as it can.
Indoors I haven’t figured this one out yet – theres just too much smoke coming off while grilling to make this an enjoyable experience. Maybe if you have a really good fan above stove? But mine doesn’t cut it. So I’m always doing smash burgers outdoors
Also here’s little tip – keep your oven preheated at around 160-170, and move your patties into the oven until they’re all done.
This will keep the cheese nice and freshly melted until everything is done and ready to serve up your smashburger sliders.
Now for the kids – it’s plain meat cheese bun, and maybe a little ketchup and mustard on theirs.
For mom and dad’s smashburger sliders, they’re topped off with the grilled onions, and maybe a little avocado and pickle just to snazz things up.
But trust me – theres SOO much flavor going on with just meat cheese bun and some of those grilled onions, you may just want to follow the lead of the kids on this one!
