These everything seasoned walnuts are the perfect snack time companion. All the seasonings you love on an everything bagel, but on a toasted walnut. My favorite way to eat walnuts!
Working from home can make me more aware of my appetite throughout the day. I constantly find myself taking a break and am in the fridge looking for something to snack on.
Finding a healthy snack that is guilt free, keto-friendly AND something the kids will enjoy is always a plus in my book!
I love walnuts because they are so versatile. You can do them, sweet, savory or just plain by themselves. And on top of that walnuts are connected to benefits for the heart, brain and gut! So I’m snacking away on these bad boys!
I tend to find myself on team savory for the most part. Don’t get me wrong, I love my sweets, but when grabbing a snack, it’s got to be savory. Funny enough, only a quarter of salty snack eaters say the majority of the snacks they eat are healthy! Everything seasoned walnuts to the rescue!
A handful of these everything seasoned walnuts is a great way to keep full and satisfied in between meals. With 4g/oz of protein, 2g/oz of fiber, and 2.5g/oz of good fats (omega-3 ALA), it’s a great way to stay satiated.
I love snacking and easily do it on the daily. But did you know that most Americans aren’t meeting their daily nutritional needs. Half the population is meeting, or exceeding protein foods recommendations but not hitting the recommendations for subgroups like nuts.
I know I am EASILY in that category. Always adding protein to my diet yet neglecting the subgroups. I’ve been trying more and more to get a handful of walnuts in a day though. That’s one plus of trying to stick to keto, you’re always looking for a good carb replacement. And walnuts do it for me!
And that’s what I LOVE about these everything seasoned walnuts. They have great nutritional value, and with the seasonings of garlic, onion, sesame seeds and some Himalayan salt? Easily a snack that you’ll be making up weekly.
And it’s so easy to make too! Whether you’re using my from-scratch everything seasoning, or store-bought, there’s nothing to this recipe. Just season up with a binder like egg whites, or butter (I’m doing keto so a good grass-fed butter will do). Toast in the oven for about 10 minutes and you’re gold!
And if you make this in bulk, here’s a tip you’ll need. Walnuts can go rancid quicker than other nuts so ALWAYS store them in the fridge or freezer. That way you’ll have these tasting delicious all the way till the end!
