Sometimes I need a little break from cooking on a weeknight. And with a newborn in the house, sometimes you don’t really have the time or energy to wrangle everyone up and go out.

And even if you get them out of the house, you gotta hurry and get back because there’s homework, baths and bedtime routines.

Sometimes, after a long day of work, you’re really not up for going out to eat.

Now that we have a few extra hours of sunlight, I thought it’d be a nice change of pace to have an easy home dinner – outside. So, the other evening, I went online and ordered Applebee’s Carside To Go.

Applebee’s online ordering is super simple, just how I need it when trying to leave from work. Select what everyone wants for dinner, then enter in the make and model of my car so I can get my order delivered to me once I park. Don’t get out of the car you say? I’m all in!

I ordered a little of everything so we could have a little Family Style dinner. Except Brayden. No one touches his Grilled Cheese sandwich!

This was a huge time saver and really comes in clutch when you need a hand with dinner. And with that extra time saved we can make dinner fun. We’re having a little backyard dinner to enjoy the weather.

And yes, as a family, it’s always nice to get out of the house. But I’m telling you those little change ups for dinner, especially when you’ve had a long day and just don’t feel up to getting everyone out of the house, is equally special.

Kids always remember the little things. There’s so many little things we do that to me didn’t really seem that big of a deal, but he’ll talk about it for weeks.

I can already hear him “Daddy, can we eat outside for dinner like we did the other day?”
